The Spike Hyzer Developmental Tour has 3 “B tier” events in it’s inaugural year. We challenge you to join the first of many seasons with the Spike Hyzer team for what we believe will be an awesome contribution to the future of disc golf. While the details are still being hammered out in the Hyzer HQ, we do have a few tidbits of information to pass along…
The main focus of Spike Hyzer is to contribute to the growth of disc golf. We are tackling this goal by organizing sanctioned and unsanctioned disc golf tournaments that are fun and rewarding for amateurs and professionals alike. Our first step is the “Spike Hyzer Developmental PDGA Tour. There are 3 stops on the tour in NC this year. Each one will be a “B Tier” event with the added cash going to amateur and pro divisions alike. We have decided to eliminate the player’s package from our PDGA events, allowing us to add all of the applicable entry fees to the payout. The full allowed amount from the entry fees, added divisional cash and utilizing our huge inventory of golf discs, bags, baskets, apparel and other merchandise is sure to make the prize payout unique to the amateur divisions. Last but not least, there will be a points race for all eligible divisions. While we have yet to reach a decision on which divisions will be in the points series and what the reward will be for the winners, we are sure you will be pleased with the end result.
The schedule for the 2010 Spike Hyzer Developmental Tour is short but sweet in it’s opening year. The first event will be held in Lumberton, NC on May 22 & 23 at Luther Britt Park. The Luther Britt Win or Swim is entering it’s second year on the PDGA schedule and even though it is a new course in NC, it is quickly becoming known as one of the top notch courses in the state. Second on the tour is a new course to the PDGA scene, Tar River in Franklinton, NC on June 26 & 27. The Tar River Hoe Down is in it’s first year, but is sure to be a huge hit! Designed by Carlton Howard and know as the best “HomeGrown ” course in the state, we are sure you will be enthralled by it’s challenging but beautiful fairways. Last but not least is the Sanford Slingers Fall Fling III at OT Sloan Park in Sanford, NC. Slated on the tour one week after the USDGC on October 16 & 17. This short but challenging course will be the last event of the 2010 season with potential for an interesting turn of events. With this being the final event, the potential for a points race playoff will bring some drama to this short but sweet course.
Stay tuned for more info about how you can become a part of the Spike Hyzer Developmental Tour. Online registration for all 3 events is open. As a reward for those of you who preregister, your name will be entered into a drawing to win a “Cooler Competition Bag“. You will be allowed one entry for each tournament you preregister for. The drawing will be held after the last round at the Sanford Slingers Fall Fling. Sponsorship tiers are also being developed for those of you that have interest in sponsoring the tour and will be coming out soon.
